We stopped here for Coffee and cake with friends after a sunday walk. The service was quite slow and and the person serving not the most knowledgeable about our options. Having ordered two hot drinks and two desserts we waited 45 minutes before we finally gave up and asked to cancel the order and get a refund. This was more hard work than the initial order with the poor young girl to afraid to interrupt her manager who was too busy eating his food. Eventually he arrived, barely said two words to us, sorted the card refund and swiftly returned to his most important lunch. We left quite angry at the service we received and will not be going back.
Churston manor hotel is 1,000 years old.it is the most relaxing and welcoming place in Devon.dogs very welcome. Full of charm. Beautiful.open to non residents. :
Lovely place, staff very nice and friendly, yummy breakfast. Needs a little TLC but what building doesn't when it's so old.
New Year's Eve may be a one off, first time I've been here, but......Arrived, had booked in advanced but paid on arrival. Sat in the bar area as the venue for the New Year's Eve bash wasn't ready. An hour later, discover that the venue is now full and there s no table for us. Eventually they get us a table. Then the band plays rock music so loud ypu cant speak to each other, and continues even after the food is served, through half the meal. Left at 11 with a headache. Didn't bother to stay to see new year in. Dreadful.
I love this place, narrow lanes to get to it but it's worth the drive. It is a very old and very haunted hotel, restaurant and bar. It's full of amazing historical objects that make you want to explore. They also offer a great selection of drinks at a reasonable price. Sitting outside is created to make your stay very relaxing. I will be booking a night to stay soon so will give a more comprehensive review.
