Loved this place. Awesome food, great customer service all at a good price. Would definitely go back.

Just changed ownership, and not very good compared to its reputation. No menus, had to go to the bar to read a board, then specials on mobile chalk board you had to wait for others to finish with. No bread served with starter; starters overpowered with garlic, mains (1st: prawn, scallop, monkfish in whiskey sauce) just cooked, no texture, just overpowered with garlic, and no taste of whisky ... (2nd: seafood plater), brown crab meat served in scallop shell?? Why?, lobster very rubbery and wrong tools provided to open up the shell, tonnes of prawns and langoustines, but everything just overpowered with garlic. Wine selection limited to 3 bottles of red or white. The only saving grace, was the waitress (Diane), who was very professional, caring and lovely.

What can I say except 'Oh Dear', It is with deep regret that I have to report the demise of This Restaurant that has held the flag for being considered as one of the top Sea food eatery in Torbay for 3 decades! My Family have been regulars at the Poop Deck for over 25 years and have always enjoyed the spectacular Seafood platter knowns as 'Neptune's Feast' which in the past has been a dish to die for, consisting of a huge platter of Fresh Brixham, Scallops, Mussels, Clams, Scottish Langoustines, Dublin Bay King Prawns, topped off with Two Fresh Whole Brixham Crabs, complete with all their claws & a Fresh Whole Brixham Lobster Split in Two & topped with lashings of hot garlic Butter served with an endless bowl of Fresh Crusty Bread & a generous salad Bowl, Which is what we were expecting & Very Much looking forward too. However the dish that was finally served up after a wait of well over an hour was a far cry from the opulent feast of the past & would have the the God Neptune weeping in misery & turning in his watery grave. Two small scallop shells of grey crab meat (that's was Off,Uneatable and put my wife off her whole dinner) and accompanied by a selection of shell fish that was straight from the local Cash and Carry Freezer department that consisted of two soggy frozen scallops, soggy frozen king prawns, langoustines, Mussels & a tiny lobster straight from the freezer bag & when we complained that the Crab was off the New Owners reply was 'it was brought today', Oh Really I replied' Well you best eat it yourself then Madame (which im sure she didn't as if she had she would have suffered from the worst kind of food poisoning one could imagine) & too top off this evening of discontent ,the new owner , instead of being front of house, meeting, greeting & servicing customers as the host of her newly acquired Flag Ship Restaurant , just sat on her bum and watched the two poor waiting staff run themselves ragged trying to serve up food, drinks and entre's to their ever waiting disgruntled customers and then The final Nail in the Coffin, We were offered a 5.00 discount of a 150 bill for 4. I just hope that the new owner reads this review and takes the actions required to return this lovely restaurant back to its former glory by once more offering 'FRESH BRIXHAM SEAFOOD' Straight from the Quay that is only a two minute walk from their door step & if the Fresh ingredients are not available on the day, Don't put those dishes on the menu for that evening!

Great fish supper - Hot oysters and mussels to start - very tasty. Followed by Dover sole with crevettes, crisp fresh salad with zingy French dressing and homemade skin on chips with a great potato-ey taste (surely must be a healthier option ...;) ). Sole was firm as was the turbot - just the way it should be and coming off the bone smoothly. Casual atmosphere and welcoming and friendly people.

Just had a delicious meal. Beautiful fish soup, Swordfish, steak all delicious. Loverly seasonal veg full of flavour. Great sweets and very pleasantly served. Would recommend.
